What you’ll learn

A practical skill set to build and deliver real publications:

  • Images & text, the right way – place, link, crop, fit, text wrap, baseline grid.
  • Typography & styles – paragraph/character styles, spacing, hyphenation, optical alignment.
  • Color management – RGB vs CMYK vs Pantone, swatches, tints, brand palettes.
  • Transparency & effects – layers, blending, drop shadows (tastefully!), overprint preview.
  • Master pages & long documents – consistent headers/footers, auto page numbers, book files.
  • Covers & layout systems – grids, visual hierarchy, full-bleed images, safe margins.
  • Preflight & export – collect package, print-ready PDF/X, interactive PDF basics (links, TOC).

We also show how InDesign plays nicely with Photoshop and Illustrator assets for a clean, end-to-end workflow.
